Gree vs Mitsubishi Mini-Split in Dallas — Honest Comparison
Truficient is a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor and a Gree Pro installer. We sell both. Call 214-238-4349 for a free quote.
The Short Version
- Mitsubishi is the premium choice. Best low-ambient heating, longest warranty, best parts availability in DFW, highest resale impact. Costs 25-40% more.
- Gree is the value choice. Solid inverter performance, 10-year compressor warranty, much lower upfront cost. Parts availability is good but not Mitsubishi-good.
Pricing in Dallas (2026)
| System | Mitsubishi | Gree | |---|---|---| | Single-zone 12k | $7,200 - $9,500 | $4,800 - $6,400 | | 2-zone multi | $13,500 - $16,500 | $9,800 - $12,500 | | 3-zone multi | $17,500 - $21,000 | $13,500 - $16,800 |
Mitsubishi premium ranges from 30% to 45% depending on zone count.
Performance in Dallas Heat
Both handle 105°F days easily. Inverter compressors modulate down at part load, so both stay quiet and efficient at 80% of operating hours. We have not seen Gree fail in extreme heat in our Dallas installs.
Heating Performance
Dallas hits 18°F maybe 2-3 days a year. Both brands deliver rated capacity down to 5°F. Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat models hold rated capacity to -13°F, which is overkill for Dallas. If you live north of Frisco and want belt-and-suspenders cold-weather performance, Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat is the call.
Warranty
- Mitsubishi: 12 years parts, 7 years compressor (registered).
- Gree: 10 years parts, 10 years compressor (registered with a pro installer).
Gree actually wins the compressor warranty length on paper. Mitsubishi wins on parts availability — a Mitsubishi board ships next-day from a Dallas warehouse. A Gree board is usually 2-4 days.
Sound Levels
Both post 19-22 dB on lowest fan. In real installations, indistinguishable.
Resale and Appraisal
In Highland Park, Preston Hollow, and Lakewood, Mitsubishi on the spec sheet adds perceived value. In most other Dallas neighborhoods, "ductless mini-split, 10-year warranty" is what shows up on the appraisal — the brand does not move the number.
What We Recommend
- Premium home, budget not the driver: Mitsubishi.
- Best value, money-conscious: Gree.
- Cold-weather edge case: Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat.
- Rental property or ADU: Gree, every time.
